A Good Place to Start. Check Out This Site
I wanted to share some starting points for those out there looking for ideas to start making money online. It’s important that you guys have at least some minimal resources with which to work with, and one of the most useful starting points I’ve come across is at www.wickedfire.com. It’s a great website full of affiliate marketers. What’s an affiliate marketer? An affiliate marketer is simply someone who works in affiliate marketing. For the purposes of this discussion we will be speaking of online affiliate marketers and marketing. For a detailed wiki of affiliate marketing read THIS.
I got started at that particular forum because of one of my mudding buddies. MUDS stand for multi-user dungeons, and they are an online text style game that I’ve been playing off and on for 16 years or so. They’re really fun if you like those kinds of things, and I do. Anyways I digress, so moving on, one of the guys I played with told me what he did for a living. Affiliate marketing. He stated he made about 200 thousand a year doing it, it took him about 3 years to get to that point, but now all he did was sit around and play video games and MUD. Ok I had to get piece of this action! I mean come on, the chance to do nothing all day *supposedly* but play video games and rack in money from a relatively automated process. I didn’t mind if it would take 1-3 years to set up and establish myself. Where else can you spend that amount of time, with little start up costs, and end up with that income? I didn’t know anywhere else. So I began to look into things at the site. Which he referred me to of course.
So about a year and a half ago I joined the site. Symmetry Power is my username there by the way in case you’re interested in checking me out. Now, as back then, I am a complete and total noob when it comes to affiliate marketing. It’s really been slow for me to pick up, but I’m trying and I’m not ready to quit. I’m having better success mentally and emotionally lately then before, mainly because of the freebie trading. Freebie trading gives me a prime example of some affiliate marketing techniques in work, that actually generate revenue. So it’s good to get a close up look at the process. However, it is by no means the standard in affiliate marketing, and is far from being usual. In fact on Wickedfire the general opinion is that any type of “incentive” campaigns are junk because of the low quality of leads. They could be right but apparently it is enough for the IFW sites to stay in business and thrive thanks to communities like the www.freelunchroom.com and www.anything4free.com and a few others I’ve seen.
Checking out that forum is definitely worth it. There’s a lot of veterans there who do many types of online businesses and you can learn a lot just from reading. I gotta warn you though there is a lot to read, so take your time and really try to comprehend as much as you can before you get started on any projects. My mistake last year was not enough preparation, so I’m taking it as slow as I can now and I’m ok with that.
Even though that’s basically one step I gave you as a tip, it points you in the direction of a resource that can give you MANY starting points and resources. You won’t be disappointed by joining that site and getting to know that community, if anything you’ll feel like a bug compared to many of those internet giants, but hey that’s ok, everyone starts out small at one point.

You seem to be getting into the same things I am. I’m looking to successfully start an online based business. Or monetary information network. I’ve got 3 website projects in the process right now. I’m interested to see how your business ventures pan out. We seem to be in the same boat and the same point in our journey’s
Hey Matt thanks for your comment and for stopping by. I’m glad to hear that we’re doing similar projects. There’s really so much out there and even though guys like you and I may be completely behind the “BIG” guys out there, there’s always room and opportunity. I’m looking forward to talking to you and exchanging ideas.
Hello,
I think I’m in the same boat too. I’ve tried doing websites. When I absolutely had no idea what I was doing. So I’ve learned some things through lots of failures. My goal is to someday become independent of my day job. I’ve been trying affiliate marketing with no success. Marketing is my biggest problem lack of it. I like your ideas and knowledge & hopefully I’ll be able to reciprocate down the line.
I would love to be able to leave my day job. It’s not that I dislike it, but you know I want the freedom to not need it. I don’t want to be needy and I’m sure you guys don’t either. Even though we’re all in the same boat, at least we can see eye to eye and and least we’ve made a start. That’s the most important step. Good luck to you guys and good luck to me! Lol.
