Yesterday my wife and I got a surprise in the mail. Well, to be honest we were expecting it, but it was wonderful to finally get it. We got our exam dates for the Post Office. That’s right, we now have the chance to take a 3 hour test. Yay! If we pass that test (with 70 or higher) we will be in the “hiring pool.” Then we have a chance to get an interview for the position we showed interest in, and if we get one and it goes well, then we have a job at the Post Office.

There are a lot of steps in this process, but if we get the job it will be worth it. I think it’d be a great experience to work as a mail delivery carrier. If nothing else, I’d be sure to get some exercise. The pay is good too, it starts at 19.61 an hour. My wife is going for a retail position because carrying bags and walking around is not for her. Those positions start at 14.61 an hour. So if we both get those, we’ll be doing better financially then now. MUCH better.

Even though my goal is to be financially independent and to work at home with my own business, at this time I’m still in the learning and building phase. My family and I still need regular jobs because we need money. Unfortunately even though the best things in life are free, we still need some of the other kinds of things as well. Also the capital from better jobs aren’t going to hurt my business ventures either. So I’m optimistic about the situation. I’m crossing my fingers! Wish us luck.
