Tax Refund Blessings
Okay, normally I’m not so excitable, but I’m flying on cloud nine right now. My wife and I have been waiting for our tax refunds, which I filed on April 12th. I knew exactly the amount to be expecting, because I filed them right? Well, I was right about my refund. Which was a measly 107 dollars. However, I was incredibly wrong about my wife’s refund of 300 something dollars.
See when I filed my wife’s refund, I didn’t have all the pertinent information. For the first 6 months of 2007 she was still working for the Salvation Army, which is a non-profit. So I had no clue how to file that information or if it was even worth including. Idiot me! Thank goodness her work still automatically does her filings, and thank goodness that the IRS made the corrections easily and in a timely manner. For instead of 300 something dollars, her refund was almost 3,000! I damn near fainted when I saw our bank statement. It had been over negative 1200 for the past two weeks because of some checks bouncing and the subsequent 300 dollars in fees for overdrafts.
So there you have it. We just got a huge financial reprieve. We’ve caught up on credit card payments, and even though they were late, at least they’re paid. Padded the savings account somewhat, and guess what? We still have our stimulus payment to look forward to. I’m beginning to think that with this stroke of luck and business picking up online, that things are going to turn out okay. I just better make sure that I don’t make any more knuckleheaded errors. *crosses fingers*
