Ultimate Social Browser. Flock

So right now I’m typing this post within the Flock web browser blog editor. It’s pretty damn awesome. Much better then using MS Word 2007 to upload a post. At least using Flock I can add tags to my post. I couldn’t do that with Word. However, I don’t see any place to add a post to a category and I don’t like that. I guess I’ll have to be satisfied with tags for now.

Now formatting options are pretty minimal, but I don’t think it was meant to be any more then something really simple. It’s not a replacement for your standard blog writing medium, it seems to be more like a “just in case” thing, or a “gotta write now!” You can be looking at any page, right click and select blog this from the drop down menu and then voila! you’re good to go.

When you do that (right click; blog this) it will include a link to the current page. I find it to be pretty useful in many ways. I could be stumbling around, which I do quite often, and find an interesting post or tidbit of information that I just have to blog about right now.

Here’s a screen shot of this post in action and now we continue on. Pretty snazzy isn’t it? It’s a very simple interface that packs enough punch to be seriously considered as an everyday tool and it’s quick and convenient. What more could you ask for?

We also haven’t even begun to discuss the other features it has. It has full integration with Facebook, Youtube, Yahoo Mail, Gmail, del.icio.us, ma.gnolia., pownce, photobucket, flicker, I mean it has a lot of options. It’s sidebars are amazing and it makes it really easy to navigate through your social accounts. Oh I forgot to mention Twitter. It has that too. I’ve been starting to “tweet” lately. It’s actually kind of fun.

So in conclusion: Flock is cool. Thank you PC World magazine for throwing this product my way. I know I’m going to rely on it a lot. Check it out at www.flock.com

P.S. Oh this is totally awesome, after clicking the publish button on the bottom right hand corner. It has even more options. I can select what categories it will be posted to. I now officially love this even more. I can even select to publish it as a new post, or to replace one. Too bad I can’t manually set the post date and time but that’s ok, I’ll live.

P.S.S.

Unfortunately the tags feature didn’t work exactly right. It put the tags in the post as links instead of properly tagging it. So categories is great, but tags a bit iffy. However you can just cut paste the tags from the post into your tags field when you edit it in Wordpress. So all is right with the world.

  1. Well.. so far the Flock experience isn’t go so bad.. It DOES have a lot of quirks.. and even though its Mozilla based.. they seem to want to identify with IE a bit.. I’ll keep everyone updated on my experience. Lol.
